How 100 Women Who Care Works
- Each member must commit to donating $100 per meeting ($400 per year).
- The donations will be given to charities serving our local communities. No national charities will be considered. The purpose is for the contribution to stay 100% in southeastern Michigan.
- Members who wish to submit a charity for consideration must be ready to make a five minute presentation at the meeting to the members. Three charity submissions will be randomly drawn at the meeting of which the presenters will then have time to make their five minute presentation. If there is an immediate/emergency need at the time of the meeting, it may be presented as one of the choices.
- Only members who have signed a Commitment Form and are members in good standing (are current on their contributions or have been through at least one meeting and donation) may submit a charity for consideration.
- Only members who are current in their contributions are eligible to vote at meetings. Members may not vote unless they are in attendance at the meeting.
- Three member names who would like to nominate an organization will be drawn from a hat. If you make a presentation and your nomination is not chosen, you will still be eligible to put your name in the drawing at the next meeting. If a member’s charity is chosen, that organization is not eligible to win again for two years. The member is still eligible to submit the name of another charity.
- The three randomly picked charities will be presented at the meeting by the nominating member for 5 minutes. A 5 minute Q&A session will take place immediately following each presentation and directly preceding member voting.
- All checks will be made out to the chosen organization. If you unable to attend, give your check to a member to deliver on your behalf. Or, watch your email the following day for an announcement.
- The benefitting organization must agree NOT to use the donors’ names for future solicitations or give the information out to the public. If the charity does not adhere to this condition, they will be removed from any future consideration. The organization is also required to send a representative to the next meeting to explain to the membership how the funds have been used.
- Membership to 100 (or more) Women Who Care is open to ALL women. The more women we gather, the greater the impact within our community.
- Each member will vote by ballot – the majority rules. Even if your choice does not win, all members are responsible for writing a check to the winning charity.
- In the case of a two-way tie the membership will be provided with the names of the two charities and a second vote will be taken. If the second vote results in another tie then we will randomly pick one of the two charities name out of a hat. In the case of a three-way tie we will randomly pick one of the three names out of a hat.
